Video shooting

Our first shoot was planned to be in London along the south bank area. Previous to the day we had walk down south bank to ensure we knew which areas we would be using and making sure by using the area we would not be causing any disruption to the public or local businesses. we wanted to keep to the edge of the Thames so that audiences would recognise key aspects of the London background for example snap shots of the Tate modern and St Paul's cathedral connote the location of central London which many consumers could find appealing due to counter cultural attraction. However some back streets had to be used as they allowed better terrain for the skateboarding in which the south bank did not. The skateboarding shots took roughly 3-4 hours and we filmed everything we need to which meant there was no reason to ome back and shoot any more.
The second shoot was the performance shots. We got four band members to play the song. We had the track playing along with it so the band members kept in sync with the track. We did a selection of 3 longs cuts. One was a steady cam shot in which we used the tri-pod. there was no movement for this shot. The second an third were moving handicam shots in which i used several angles. This meant that once we had sycronised the shots with the track we could pick out a desired selection of the cut and insert into the timeline.

Animation

Part of the preparation for our music video was to make a simple animation of the music video using still images.
The editing stage helped greatly for a clearer and more detailed understanding of how to use adobe premiere elements.
Looking back at the animated music video after finishing helped us to understand the way in which the filming and editing works. We found that some areas can become very time consuming and tedious so breaking down certain jobs and careful planning can improve time taken to achieve the whole project. An example of this could be the transfer of clips and files and a time saving option could be to start the download of the files and leave it while you start another job like risk assessment forms.
While editing the clips it came aparent that it was in our interest to alter the timing of some clips as we had a better understanding of the structure of both the music video and music track. After the clip times were edited to our new specification in order to convey amplification we corrected the times on our cuts sheet.

Bon Jovi - It's My Life

I put this video on the blog, because it has the same concept of the video as we want to incorporate in ours; the male recieves a call from a female character in which he responds by rushing to an underground concert. We want to have a male character recieving a call from a female character at a house-party/backyard gig in which he will rush to on a skateboard doing tricks along street obstacles on the way.

Evaluation of Pitch

After presenting the pitch to Mrs Fernandez and the rest of our class, different ideas have evolved from our original response to the song. We had a positive response to the track however we were reminded about the difficulties of certain aspects of the filming. Skateboarding sections will have to be filmed with care while the other problem we face is the American feel that we have a choice in either attempting to create our move in the opposite direction to produce a completely different feel to the track.
The location shoot helped us to realise the problems of turning up and achieveing effective shots. When we film or video, practise runs and practise shots will be made before attemting any real shots.
The idea of shooting a party scene came about. This would include having roughly 25 people round at somebody's house. This then formed an idea that our skateboard shots could be the lead up to the party. This would make a good narrative of a skateboarder travelling to a party and then appearing there.
Our ideas will evolve further more as we narrow down on perticularities and next on the agender being the story board should help greatly.

You Me At Six - Gossip

The reason i put this video up is from the feedback from our pitch, one person in particular promoted the idea of a low budget house party in a garden (sunny if possible) in that a band are playing and we can get shots of both people having a good time, dancing, and the band.

Feedback #3

Alex / Matt

You are meeting deadlines and I can see your idea developing, however Alex, your analysis is currently 3+ level and Matt 4-. According to my notes, you still ned to improve on the mood board response and Alex - your technical analysis is for a previous video analysed? You need to have done 3 different videos across your product research.

cKy - Familar Realm

Although this video is not what we want in terms of narrative or performance shots, the video shows an unconventional colour scheme change at 2.11 of the video. We could use a similar effect in our video to create the American edge we need to create.
